TruthForge (Media) is a Chrome extension that critiques how a news or media article frames the truth. This policy explains what data the extension touches, where it goes, and what stays entirely on your device.
When you click the extension's toolbar icon or open its side panel, the extension reads the visible text of the article on the page you're currently viewing. It does this only at that moment, on that one tab — never in the background, never automatically, and never across your other open tabs.
The first read, right after you click the toolbar icon, uses Chrome's activeTab permission — a narrow, one-time grant scoped to that single tab and that single click.
If you then use an in-panel action (e.g. "Reforge," "Analyze this page," or "Try again") after the page has navigated elsewhere, that click doesn't qualify for a fresh activeTab grant. For those cases, the extension asks Chrome for a broader, optional permission to read the current page, which shows you a one-time browser permission prompt you can accept or decline. This permission is not requested or granted at install — only when an action actually needs it — and once you accept it, Chrome remembers your choice so you aren't prompted again. Declining simply shows an error asking you to try again; it doesn't block anything else in the extension.
The article text (along with the analysis prompt) is sent directly from your own browser to whichever AI provider you have selected in the extension's settings:

There is no backend server for this extension. The developer does not operate any server that the extension talks to, and never receives, stores, or has access to:
Data flows in one direction only: your browser → the AI provider you chose. The developer is not in that loop.
The following are stored only in chrome.storage.local — a storage area private to your browser profile, on your own device:
None of this is synced to any account or server the developer controls. Uninstalling the extension, or clearing its storage from chrome://extensions, permanently erases all of it.
TruthForge (Media) is not directed at children, and the developer does not knowingly collect data from children.
